At the beginning of the last century, major economies left the gold standard and started the practice of printing money without any assets backing it. This gave governments the power of infinite money. A power that has been abused in the past, and to this day, is used in the name of "saving the economy" through actions which, in fact, devalues our currencies and leads to the impoverishment of citizens in the long term.
Or so it used to be - nowadays, the economy has been "saved" time and time again, using the same instruments, increasing debt, increasing the money supply, leading governments and central banks to a point of no return, where they have only one option left: continue printing. This impoverishment of the population that used to be a long-term effect of our system is now becoming a short-term effect, thanks to governments like the U.S. government increasing the money supply by over 40% in less than two years. Although this acceleration seems obvious now, some have been observing this from the sidelines and have taken action.
It is not governments, not universities or think tanks that came up with the solution. It all started from a post on an internet forum written by a person under the alias Satoshi Nakamoto. Putting together pre-existing computer science concepts, a new form of money was created by this person (or persons) and shared with the world. Its power, community, decentralization and scaling potential did the rest. Fast-forward over a decade and we now have an asset that has a valuation of approximately $1 trillion that no one can shut down. It is money that has hard rules that cannot be changed, with a maximum supply of 21 million bitcoin. These two factors make it the hardest form of money in existence and, essentially, the better form of money.
The film explains the details of how Bitcoin works, how mining works and the existing scaling options, such as the Lightning Network, that unlock bitcoin's potential for growth and global adoption as a currency. The film "The Great Reset and the Rise of Bitcoin" puts together all the important details about our economic context - central bank actions, history, bitcoin and more - in order for viewers to get a good level of understanding on our current situation and be able to make educated decisions on the future of the financial world they want to live in.

For example, hunter-gatherers, who were very mobile, had to have small, light instruments to carry with them. Once we settled into bigger cities, larger instruments could be built.
Today, music is as accessible as running water. But if you were born in Beethoven's time, you would be lucky to hear two symphonies in your lifetime.

The World In 2050, The Real Future Of Earth (BBC & Nat Geo Documentaries)
Can you imagine our world in 2050? Can you imagine the earth in 2050? Can you imagine people in 2050? Do you want to know the future of earth? By mid-century there will likely be 9 billion people on the planet, consuming ever more resources and leading ever more technologically complex lives. What will our cities be like? How will we eat in the future of Earth? Will global warming trigger catastrophic changes, or will we be able to engineer our way out of the world climate crisis?
In the future world demographic changes will certainly be dramatic. Rockefeller University mathematical biologist Joel Cohen says it's likely that by 2050 the majority of the people in the world will live in urban areas of the earth, and will have a significantly higher average age than people today.

The U.S. is entering a new economic era. It began with an interest rate tightening cycle coming out of the Federal Reserve, with decisions that have reshaped personal finance in America. Some savings accounts can now return meaningful interest for the first time in years. It has also led to a Wall Street reshuffling, and a wave of corporate bankruptcies as some bad bets turn sour. With these free money years coming to a close, we examine how the Fed's decision-making has affected the economy.

Made in China. It’s a common phrase known by many. Cellphones, TV screens and game consoles are just some of the millions of electronics manufactured and imported from China to the U.S. daily. China has controlled the smartphone manufacturing market for years. While some industries, like the semiconductor industry and the EV battery market, are scrambling to build new factories across the U.S., tech giants like Apple and Google are not making the same effort to do that. CNBC explores why tech giants produce phones abroad and whether it makes sense to move production to America.
Dumb phones, once considered outdated, are still prevalent around the world, making up about a quarter of mobile phones actively in use. While affordability in developing countries is a significant reason for their continued use, there could be an unexpected but potential rise in use among younger generations conscientious about the potential smart phones could have on mental health. While Nokia and Motorola are still some of the biggest dumb phone makers in the world, Punkt. and Light are two start-ups betting on the resurgence in popularity.
For years, BlackBerry was the most popular smartphone brand in the U.S. After failing to adjust to the rapidly-changing industry and falling to competitors like Apple and Google, the company pivoted to an entirely new direction. Now, it’s focused solely on software and cybersecurity — trying to leave the iconic cellphones in the past. CNBC visited BlackBerry's Autonomous Vehicle Innovation Center and interviewed CEO John Chen to see what the company is up to now.

A massive heat dome across the American Southwest is driving temperatures in Phoenix and Las Vegas to record triple-digit highs. New Maxar satellite photos show how the growth of these large cities is contributing to the extreme weather. The combination of a heat dome on top of a heat island means being outside can be even more dangerous.
WSJ explains the science behind heat domes and how urban growth can make that heat even more deadly.

But leading neuroscientist Lisa Feldman Barrett challenges the popular notion that trauma resides solely in the body. She asserts that trauma is rooted in the brain’s predictions and the construction of our experiences. When an adverse experience becomes traumatic, the brain heavily weighs and anticipates that experience in its future predictions. This ongoing prediction and re-experiencing of the traumatic event strengthens the neural connections associated with it, making the predictions more likely to occur in the future.
Rather than focusing on the body as the site of healing, she suggests that changing the brain’s models of prediction is what needs to be addressed to break free from the cycle of trauma. By understanding the role of predictions and the brain’s plasticity, Feldman Barrett offers hope for transforming traumatic experiences and finding new, lasting paths to healing.

To solve for this, Yale psychology professor Laurie Santos recommends a set of practices, dubbed “re-wirements.” These practices include prioritizing social connection, being other-oriented, focusing on gratitude and blessings, and incorporating exercise into our daily routine.
By understanding the common pitfalls of our thinking and adopting new behaviors, we can achieve true happiness, and make it last. For Santos, happiness isn’t just a state; it’s an ongoing practice.

Several new discoveries have already been uncovered, including a bakery, human skeletons and a painting resembling a pizza.
Pompeii in the south of Italy, was a sophisticated ancient Roman city destroyed by a catastrophic volcanic eruption from Mount Vesuvius nearly 2,000 years ago.
Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most visited tourist attractions in Italy.
