"I'm pretty pissed off": Trudeau blasts Bell layoffs, calls them "garbage decision"

When asked how he felt about Bell's most recent round of layoffs, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said it was a "garbage decision."

During a press conference in King City, Ont., Trudeau spoke about the company laying off nine percent of its staff.

“Canadians need to demand better, as we will be demanding better from corporate leaders like in this case, Bell, that are eroding Canadians’ ability to know each other, to trust each other, and to trust in the country and the future we are building together,” he continued.

“So, yes, I’m pretty pissed off about what’s just happened.”

Bell Media is ending multiple television newscasts and making other programming cuts after its parent company announced widespread layoffs and the sale of 45 of its 103 regional radio stations.
